Governance of the Animal Health Board is managed by a Board of Directors who are appointed by the Animal Health Board Representatives’ Committee.

Current Board Directors

John Dalziell (Chairperson)John Dalziell

John farms sheep and cattle at Tinui near Masterton. He has been a Director of the Animal Health Board since 1996 and was elected Chairman in 2001. He is a former Chairman of the Wellington Regional Animal Health Committee. John has a strong background of community service, particularly in the education and sporting areas and has won several farming awards.


Bronwyn MonopoliBronwyn Monopoli

Bronwyn Monopoli is a chartered accountant from Nelson, specialising in services to rural businesses. She is a director of Port Nelson Limited, New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited, Visitor Information Network Incorporated, WearableArt Development Charitable Trust, Nelson Millennium Centre Trust and New Zealand International Arts Festival Trust. She holds degrees in Agricultural Science and Business Studies and is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Jeff GrantJeff Grant

Jeff farms sheep and deer at Balfour in Southland and has extensive agribusiness and rural sector leadership experience. He is currently Chairman of the Milford Sound Development Authority, Director of Southland Building Society and Trustee of the Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust. He is a former Chairman of NZ Meat Board, Meat and Wool New Zealand, Primary Industry Council and Meat Research and Development Council. Jeff has also been a director of Landcorp, Wrightson, and Agriculture ITO and has served as a Member of Parliament.

Andrew MacPhersonAndrew Macpherson

Andrew is currently the National Manager - Strategy and Performance at Landcorp Farming Ltd. Andrew previously held a number of CEO roles including AgVax Developments Ltd, Canesis Network Ltd, Intervet New Zealand Ltd and Nimmo-Bell & Company Ltd. Andrew is a director of the Animal Health Board Inc and a former director of AgResearch Ltd, Johne’s Disease Research Consortium and Equestrian Sports New Zealand Inc. He and a business partner own the historic East Coast property, Waipaoa Station, where a facility has been established to train the next generation of sheep and beef farmers. Early in his career, Andrew helped build a successful veterinary practice in Te Awamutu and developed a special interest in dairy cattle and deer.

Ted CoatsTed Coats

Ted is a dairy farmer from Waikato with wide dairy sector interests and experience. He is currently a director of Livestock Improvement Corporation, a member of the Livestock Improvement Audit Committee and a board member of New Zealand Animal Evaluation Limited. He is also a member of the governing group for NAIT, the National Animal Identification Tracing project. Ted is a past director of DairyNZ and has served as DairyNZ’s appointee to the Animal Health Board Representatives’ Committee.

Bruce DornbuschBruce Dornbusch

Bruce farms a 715ha sheep and beef farm near Dannevirke and has spent his working life in the Northern Wairarapa and Southern Hawke’s Bay regions. Bruce spent many years managing large farms such as Burnview Station at Herbertville and Ora Station at Akitio. He has been involved with the AHB since 2001 through the Manawatu-Wanganui TBfree Committee, where he spent a five-year period as chairman.
