Vector Control

It is estimated that about 90% of Tb infection in cattle and deer is caused by contact with wild animals carrying the disease - mainly possums, and to a lesser extent ferrets. These animals are referred to as Tb vectors.
To combat the spread of the disease in this manner, a range of wild animal control and surveillance programmes are run.
